The Old Trail Town Center will be collecting new, unwrapped Toys for the 27th annual Toy Lift Drive from 7am-7pm on Friday, December 4, 2015. Toy Lift is the signature event of Toy Lift Charities. Toy Lift began in 1988 when founder Tom Powell decided to perch himself eighty feet up in a bucket truck at the corner of Hydraulic Rd. & 29. He stayed there until people donated 1,000 toys, which he then distributed to local children. Since then, Toy Lift has grown into a huge annual community event with food, entertainment, and media coverage, raising over 17,000 toys. Toy Lifts main collection site is at Fashion Square Mall, with Old Trail Town Center participating as a satellite location.
This year’s Toy Lift will be providing toys, bicycles, games and books for over 3400 children in the City of Charlottesville, Albemarle Co, Nelson Co, Buckingham Co , Fluvanna Co and Green Co. Our toys go to children who are infants to 8th grade. Don’t have a gift to donate; we also take cash and checks. Please plan on donating to put smiles on children’s faces Christmas morning.
